Childhood Revisited: XPark Junior

I just found out the other day that I’m a Xennial – Yes, as odd as that word may look and sound, apparently it’s a real thing. This is the micro generation that sits between Generation X and Millennials so being an 80’s baby, I’m bang on the cusp. They had to create a special term for us because we are the only generation that had an analogue childhood and became digitally fluent in our teens and early adulthood. This combination has me waxing lyrical about the experience of growing up in a dusty township where we would play outdoors in the dirt, hike mountains, climb trees, swim in rivers and build forts until the cows literally came home. My nostalgia for Zimbabwe will never wane and now that I have a daughter I so desperately want her to have the childhood that I had. Enter XParkJr.

I couldn’t contain my giddiness when I found out about this new outdoor garden play area so I had to squeeze in a couple of hours to give it a try. Needless to say, anyone that shares any measure of my DNA will love this space, so this was definitely a winner for the curator’s baby!

Let me know what you think of it – I hear they have an easter egg hunt over spring break so the prices will be a little different and there will definitely be more people over the Easter weekend 🙂
